We splurged and went to Canlis

Student loans, ugh.

Luckily combining David's minimalist lifestyle and my years of savings enabled us to double down and pay it off.
Sigh. Relief. Excitement.

We decided months before that when we did get the loan paid off a major celebration was in order. We got a gift card to Canlis, which is somewhere we are way to cheap to ever go, so that became our reward.

As David made the last transfer, I got online and made our reservation!

July 16, our 5 month anniversary and one more reason to celebrate.

There were probably 3 different servers attending to our table throughout the whole night.  We never waited for more water, that's for sure.  We could have eaten the warm homemade lemon, rosemary rolls all night (which we asked for seconds and maybe thirds of) and left happy.  Thankfully we ordered dinner and licked our plates clean after every course.

Karrie ordered: Canlis salad, raviolo (singular form of ravioli), halibut, truffle fries (which David thought were too salty so I had to finish on my own, darn) and mille-feuille for dessert

David ordered: Smoked salmon, "Peter Canlis" prawns, filet mignon and mille-feuille for dessert

This is what "Milli Vanilli" dessert, as David ordered it, looks like.  Tastes like...HEAVEN.on.earth. Milk chocolate, bananas, caramel, and peanut butter.

While both works of art (as was every dish was), the filet was our favorite versus the halibut.

On the way out Peter Canlis (either he was named after the prawns, or the prawns are named after him) stopped us to apologize for not getting over to our table sooner to chat, but congratulated us on our anniversary and wished us a good night.  He's a funny guy, uh...yeah.

When we get another gift card or 75% off coupon, we'll definitely be back!
